Do I need a medical referral to come to your clinic? - No

No referral is necessary, even though we do get referrals from many of our community Physicians and other health care providers. Simply call our clinic to make your appointment.

 

Do I need an appointment? - Yes

Yes. We will give you a convenient time slot that will be sufficient to cover the assessment and treatment necessary.

 

Do you have handicap access? - Yes

Yes we have handicap access.

 

Do you assess and treat children? - Yes

Yes. We offer paediatric foot care services. We treat people of all ages from very young to very old.

What can I expect on my first visit?

First of all a welcome! Your first visit to the clinic will require you to arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment time as we need you to complete a simple form detailing some personal contact information, sign a consent to be treated , provide a brief medical history and list of any medications you are taking.

 

Your Foot Specialist will conduct a comprehensive interview to determine your foot health concerns, examine and assess your feet and lower limbs as appropriate , observe you walking discuss your health and its relationship to your foot conditions (e.g. Diabetes, Arthritis, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis). Following this you your specialist will explain what your foot or gait issues are and, explain in detail what the latest, current treatment options are.

 

It will be your decision which , options you choose. Depending on your particular foot health concerns a treatment will be performed.

 

The initial visit usually lasts 45 - 60 minutes depending on your individual case.

 

Are your services Insured ? - Yes

Yes. Most Extended Health Benefits Insurers and most Group Health Benefits Plans include coverage for Chiropody. To be safe always check your particular plan or request a “Pre Determination “ (an estimate of cost for your care) at your initial consultation with your Chiropodist. You may submit this to your Insurance Company for approval.

 

Are your services covered by OHIP? - No

Chiropody services are not covered under OHIP. However most private insurance plans do cover Chiropody services and the specialized services and procedures we offer. Contact your insurance carrier directly for details about your specific plan or request a “Pre Determination “ at your consultation with your Chiropodist.

We are located at Walker’s Line and Darien Road just 2 traffic lights south of Dundas (Hwy 5) in Burlington, Ontario. We offer plenty of free parking. Bus routes # 6 & 15 also stop at the clinic. What do I need to bring with me?

Wear clothes that will allow us to examine the lower leg and feet and bring the typical style (s)of footwear that you wear .

 

I see orthotics advertised in many stores. Why should I get orthotics at your clinic?

Orthotics are an investment in your health and well being, so you want to be sure you get the correct custom orthotics, prescribed by a Ontario Registered Chiropodist and Foot Specialist. The treatment of a patient using orthotics is part  of the Legal Scope of Practice of a Registered Chiropodist or Podiatrist under the Ontario Chiropody Act. No other Regulated Health Discipline has this defined in their Scope of Practice.  Prescriptions are accepted by most Health Insurance Plans (MD prescription is not necessary).
