PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Peter Wilson has over 30 years of diverse, high quality Clinical experience, including 18 years of senior level experience at The Toronto General Hospital and affiliated Clinical Education facilities and played a leadership role in the development of the Chiropody/ Podiatry Profession and services in Ontario.
1980 Qualified to practice in the United Kingdom, Peter Wilson commenced his professional career with the Lothian Health Board, Edinburgh Scotland. He concurrently operated a private clinic in Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland.
1982 Toronto General Hospital Faculty member, of the then Ontario Chiropody Education Program, University Health Network and The Michener Institute for Applied Health.(formerly Toronto General Hospital and Toronto Institute of Medical Technology)
1983-1992 Senior Faculty Member and Clinical Coordinator of the Ontario Chiropody Educational Program.
1992 - 2000 Director of the Chiropody Educational Program, University Health Network, and The Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences.
Peter Wilson is a former advisor to the Ontario Ministry of Health in charge of planning and developing the Public Chiropody services and assisting over 80 hospitals and community Health agencies in Ontario establishing their Foot Care Programs.
He has a wide range of experience in patient care having been involved with the clinical teaching of Ontario Chiropodists for 18 years from 1982 to 2000. He has worked actively in association with numerous programs including vascular surgery, orthopaedics, and dermatology at several Toronto teaching hospitals including Toronto Western, Toronto General, Orthopaedic and Arthritic, West Park Hospitals
Peter Wilson also served on the Ontario Ministry of Health Diabetes task force to develop diabetic foot health programs including basic standards of diabetic foot care and screening clinics. He established a wound care clinic in association with the vascular department, haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, diabetic programs at Toronto Western and Toronto General Hospitals.
